JUDO AGAIN LAST NIGHT. NO BROKEN FINGERS. FUN STUFF. NOT AS SORE.

GOT TAXES IN MAIL YESTERDAY. BETWEEN STATE AND FED OWED ABOUT $120. NOT SO BAD, AS HAVE OWED UP TO $5000 IN PAST! GOOD THING SO LITTLE, AS SIMIANS HEMMORAGE MONEY FROM TWO MORTGAGES, MOVING EXPENSES, HOME REPAIRS, CAR REPAIR, ETC.

MEK GO PRACTICE (SAFE) FALLING NOW.

Mmmm, jealous. I would like to learn how to fall safely. My self-defense teacher also teaches Brazilian-style jujitsu, so he could've taught me how, but somehow that never really made it high up on the priority list what with all the other little details to cover like how to break out of a choke-hold (or put somebody in one!).

MEK STUDY JIU-JITSU SOMEDAY, BUT NO SCHOOL CLOSE FOR NOW...

JUDO COME FROM (JAPANESE) JIU-JITSU, BUT REWORKED SPECIFICALLY FOR SPORT PURPOSES, LESS FOCUS ON HARD-CORE FIGHTING. WHILE GRAPPLING COMPONENT VERY IMPORTANT, ALSO HAVE MANY SWEEPS AND THROWS, SO FALL SAFE VERY IMPORTANT.

CAN DEFINITELY SEE WHY BRAZILIAN STYLE TEACHER NOT PUT HIGH ON PRIORITY!

AIKIDO ALSO TEACH SAFE FALL. (MEK GO BACK TO THAT SOMEDAY, TOO.)

Finally finished taxes on Monday myself. Something weird happened. After 3 years of paying ever increasing amounts, we got refunds from all three this year (still have to do two states, since my income still comes from Ohio). Of course, part of this is to do with one time events, such as setting up a new IRA and estimated taxes from freelance writing (which shouldn't happen again). Would have had to pay Illinois, but their out-of-state tax credit is incredibly forgiving (and the City of Columbus still sucks up it's lions share into its tax black hole).

BTW, don't forget to do moving expenses for job write off next year. We didn't get to because I took so long to sell house/move (move, mostly), because they've instituted a one-year max time between start of new job and movinging expenses. Sucks...

WILL DEFINITELY DEDUCT MOVING EXPENSE. NOT SO GOOD AS ONE EXPECT, THOUGH: NOTHING FOR HOUSE-HUNTING, APPARENTLY, JUST PHYSICAL TRANSPORT OF SELVES AND BELONGINGS.

MEK BIGGEST PROBLEM IS NOT PAY ESTIMATED TAXES YET.

ALSO, IS NECESSARY PAY INTO SOCIAL SECURITY/MEDICARE? SSA SITE CERTAINLY MAKE *SEEM* THAT WAY WITHOUT DIRECTLY STATE "*THIS* HOW WILL BE PENALIZED IF NOT PAY".

NOT LIKE MEKKASIMIAN WANT PAY 15% OFF TOP *AND* PAY FED TAX UPON AS "INCOME" IF WILL NEVER EVER SEE! ALREADY PLENTY PAID TO SSA THAT WILL NEVER SEE. END UP PAY 20% EARNINGS/YEAR JUST TO PAY FOR BOOMERS SUVS.

I think you do have to pay into SS/MC, but exactly how, I'm not sure. I think that's where the Self-Employment tax comes into the picture.
